We built Jotji because we were tired of note apps that treat your thoughts as data to be mined. There's a better way.
Why we built this
It started with a simple frustration. Every note-taking app we tried wanted an account, wanted to sync to the cloud, wanted to know who we were. Some were free because they were selling our reading habits. Others were expensive and still unclear about what happened to our data.
We wanted something different: an app that just worked, offline, without asking anything of us. An app where the notes we wrote at 2am stayed between us and our device. An app with a scanner that didn't quietly upload our documents to a server somewhere.
So we built Jotji. It's free because we believe everyone deserves private, reliable note-taking — not just people who can afford a premium subscription. It's supported by people who believe in it, and we're grateful for every contribution.
What we believe
Privacy is not a feature
It's the foundation. Every decision we make starts with: does this protect the user's data? If the answer is no, we don't do it.
Free for everyone
Note-taking is a fundamental tool for thinking and working. We don't believe it should be locked behind a paywall. Jotji is free, and it will stay free.
Offline first
Your notes should work on a plane, in a basement, in a country with unreliable internet. We build for the real world, not the ideal one.
No dark patterns
No fake urgency, no confusing pricing, no features hidden behind a paywall you didn't know existed. What you see is what you get.
